From

Intro

I am an Indigenous biomedical engineer and community leader from Ecuador, dedicated to bridging ancestral knowledge and modern science. Through initiatives focused on education, research, and youth empowerment, I work to promote inclusion, leadership, and sustainable development in historically marginalized communities.

Personal Vision

I envision a world where ancestral wisdom and modern science coexist to create inclusive solutions for global challenges. As an Indigenous biomedical engineer, my purpose is to open pathways for rural and Indigenous youth—especially women—to access quality education, leadership opportunities, and scientific research. I aspire to build bridges between communities and institutions, empowering the next generation of changemakers through intercultural innovation, social justice, and collective well-being.

Goals

  • Complete my master’s in Bioengineering at Rice University as a Fulbright scholar.
  • Expand Wambrakuna en la Ciencia to 10 rural communities, empowering Indigenous youth in STEM.
  • Establish a Biomaterials Lab at Yachay Tech to research native plants with biomedical potential.
  • Launch a national network of Indigenous and rural women scientists in Ecuador.
  • Promote intercultural science policy and create a center for Indigenous innovation and research.
  • Mentor future Indigenous women leaders in STEM across Latin America.

Entrepreneurial Projects

  • Wambrakuna en la Ciencia
Founder of a program empowering Indigenous youth—especially women—with STEM education and scholarship access.
  • Primer Encuentro de Mujeres Indígenas en STEM (2023)
Organized the first national gathering of Indigenous women in science in Ecuador, with over 160 participants.
  • Escuela de Liderazgo Kichwa-Saraguro
Coordinated a training program for 60 Indigenous youth focused on leadership, collective rights, and political participation.
