About the Event

Learn to talk the talk without walking the walk. This class is for people who want to speak intelligently about tech. Whether you're recruiting developers, a first-time product manager, or simply want to work in a tech startup, you need to know what is happening in the engineering department.

This workshop will provide an overview of the latest web and mobile technologies, demystify common programming concepts, and provide clear instruction on how to effectively launch apps on web and mobile platforms.

Bring your questions! Participants will get the opportunity to address any specific concepts they are struggling with.

Takeaways
  • Learn what the tech stack is, and what the trade-offs are between different programming languages
  • Understand the difference between Ruby and Rails, an API and an SDK, and Java and JavaScript
  • Learn what are the common tools for building apps, and what these actually do (Github, Sublime, AWS)
Preparation
  • This class is taken completely online via Zoom.
  • We will provide a link to the session 24 hours before & again, on the day of the class, to the email used to purchase a ticket. If you have signed up on behalf of a friend or colleague, please forward along this information.

NOTE: this class will not be recorded, however, slides will be sent within 7 days following the session.
